Smith Flooring is a family company now in its third generation of family ownership.
With deep roots in the Missouri forest products industry, our history goes way back to the 1920s when Jack Smith bounced around southern Missouri working as a logger and tie hacker.
Jack's son, Viandel "Spider" Smith, inherited a strong work ethic and a deep connection with the Ozark forests and in 1947 he partnered with a man named Ralph Padgett in starting a flooring mill to take advantage of the home building boom that followed World War II.
When it comes to having a light touch on the environment no floor covering ranks higher than a beautiful hardwood floor.
To start with, wood floors are all natural and they come from perhaps the most sustainable of all building resources: Trees.
In addition to being biodegradable, recyclable, and a great carbon sink, trees and wood products are renewable and being renewed at a remarkable clip.
Wood flooring is also among the least energy-intensive materials, consuming far less energy to make than carpet, linoleum or composite tile.
The PFI Standards Program is a third-party accreditation program providing specifications for residential and commercial-grade pellet fuel, now representing fifteen pellet manufacturing companies, among them 24 facilities.
Pellet fuels from qualified manufacturers are more easily accessible than ever.
To identify pellets from a qualified producer, all someone has to do is look for the PFI Quality Mark on the bag.
Many retailers look for the Quality Mark when making decisions on which pellet fuel brands to purchase.
